Capability
Remote Logistics and Steep-Slope Access, Rock Anchor Installation, Lattice Tower Foundations, Solar System Foundations, Access Track Construction, Electrical and Earthing, Environmental and Fire Risk Management
Site Access
- Coordinated material transport using specialised plant, including 4×4 AGI trucks, Morooka trucks, Articulated dump trucks, Unimogs, and UTVs.
- Establishment of a concrete transfer area to support safe placement at elevated sections of the site
Earthworks
- Stripping of topsoil and excavation up to design levels for the site preparation for structural and civil works.
- Site formation across uneven and sloped ground conditions
Foundations and Structural Works
- Rock anchoring for the lattice tower foundation.
- Construction of three rock anchoring pier footing of 1800mm diameter and concrete pedestals for a 50m high lattice tower.
- Construction of reinforced strip and pad footings to support the solar frame system.
Earthing Works
Installation of power cabling to support site operations, and a full earthing system to meet safety and compliance requirements.
Security, Fencing and Compound Works
Installation of 2.7m high chain-link security fencing, weed matting, and 75mm crushed stone compound base.
Environmental Compliance
- Management of works in accordance with environmental requirements and site constraints
- Implementation of controls to protect local wildlife, including managing vehicle movements near an active wombat burrow.
Steep Terrain and Access Constraints
THE CONSTRAINTS
The site was located on steep terrain with limited and dry-weather only access, restricting the movement of plant and materials.
THE WBS SOLUTIONS
Coordinated material transport using specialised plant, including 4x4 AGI trucks, Morooka Trucks, articulated dump trucks, Unimogs, and UTVs.
Wet Weather and Surface Conditions
THE CONSTRAINTS
Rain and fog created slippery access conditions and reduced visibility, impacting safe construction activity.
THE WBS SOLUTIONS
Monitored weather conditions and adjusted work sequencing to maintain safe operations, while using Utility Task Vehicles (UTVs) to provide controlled and efficient access for personnel across the site.
Drilling for Rock Anchors and Subsurface Conditions
THE CONSTRAINTS
Installation of rock anchors required drilling to a depth of 5 m into hard subsurface conditions.
THE WBS SOLUTIONS
Used specialised drilling rigs to achieve the required depth and anchor performance while maintaining alignment and installation accuracy.
Bushfire Risk and Fire Management
THE CONSTRAINTS
The site was located in a bushfire-prone area with large sections of dry grass requiring active fire risk control.
THE WBS SOLUTIONS
Implemented Emergency Evacuation Plan, fire protection measures, maintained coordination with NSWTA, and monitored site conditions to manage ignition risks and ensure workforce safety.
Environmental and Wildlife Constraints
THE CONSTRAINTS
The presence of an active wombat burrow and surrounding natural habitat required controlled movement and environmental protection.
THE WBS SOLUTIONS
Applied restricted vehicle movements and followed REF guidelines to avoid disturbance while maintaining access and construction progress.
